“She is clothed with strength and dignity, and she laughs without fear of the future.”
The Women & Girls Working Group (WGWG) is a consortium of women and men addressing Menstrual Health Management issues globally. On any given day, more that 800 million women between the ages of 15 and 49 are menstruating. For those in poor communities around the world, there are major barriers to adequate sanitary materials and facilities. WGWG engages Menstrual Health Management by building private bathrooms for girls in schools in remote areas of the world, donating sanitary wear to international and domestic programs, and raising awareness of Menstrual Hygiene Management issues. Believing that safety and dignity is a human right, WGWG also lobbies governments to be accountable for the basic needs of the women and girls within their borders.
WGWG engages the national community by partnering with others to host Pad Parties (events that raise awareness and collect sanitary materials for disadvantaged women and girls), speak to groups about Menstrual Health Management, and build toilets for school girls in remote parts of the world.
